Fresh Out

In producing Fresh Out, my team sought to educate the public about the agriculture industry in California and how it has been devastated by the unprecedented drought. Beyond this, though, we wanted to show people that the drought could affect them no matter where they live, because much of the country depends on California's produce, especially in the winter months. As lead producer, I arranged all the interviews with our California subjects and scheduled the logistics for our rigorous three-day trip from Phoenix to shoot the footage there. I also conducted those interviews. Stephan Blake Harvey, as lead editor and director of photography, did much of the technical editing work as well as traveled to Yuma, Arizona to conduct and shoot an interview with our subject there. Kristy Westgard, as lead videographer, shot the majority of the footage we decided to include in the finished product. All team members shot footage extensively, attended all editing sessions and provided a vision for the finished product.
